Hints and ideas for the application of Shea Butter

The unique substances that comprise shea butter make it a superior multi-purpose skin care product. Literature reveals the following application possibilities for unrefined shea butter:

Dry skin, skin rash, wrinkles, itching, sun burn, for a soft shave, small skin wounds, skin cracks, tough or rough skin (for example at your feet), protection from weather, prevention against stretch marks from pregnancy, insect bites, for healthy skin, against muscle-fatigue and -tension and -pain, before and after body exercise, skin allergies, eczemas, dermatitis, skin damage after heat/sun exposure.

Conclusion: Everyone should have a container of unrefined sheabutter close by at any time.

Me, personally, I developed a rash probably due to the great heat. The rash was coming with strong itching. I applied handmade Shea WaLe Shea Butter and the itching sensation disappeared immediately. The rash was hardly visible the following morning. That was really impressing.

Hints on how to apply shea butter 
Shea WaLe Shea Butter is stored at a cool place until it is delivered to you. The shea butter therefore stays fresh and is probably quite hard when you get it. It melts in your hand or close to a heat source. We recommend taking the shea butter out of the container into the hollow of your hand by using a solid device (e.g. spoon or a cosmetic spatula). This will also keep dirt or bacteria out of the butter. In the hollow of your hand you can easily transform the butter into a soft and smooth crème by applying a soft pressure with your hand. Within a short time you will see and fee how comfortably smooth and soft Shea WaLe Shea Butter is.  

Even though shea butter has without exception only positive properties you should observe how your skin reacts after the application. It might be that your skin has got used to shea butter first. That is why we recommend pausing with the use of shea butter for a few days in case your skin shows unexpected signs of change (e.g. pimples, rash, etc.).  


Ideas on how to apply pure, unrefined and handmade shea butter 

Before applying on hairy body parts, the butter should have melted completely, e.g. in your hands or having it heated to around 40°C.
The hints on the effects of the following applications are only valid for the use of pure, unrefined and handmade shea butter.

Lips
Shea butter offers natural protection for your lips. It protects from hot, cold weather and is a very good protection against UV-rays. Your lips will easily accept shea butter and your lips will benefit from its superior natural ingredients. Moreover the butter will bring an attractive shine to your lips. Nature replaces lipsticks and their highly chemical substances...Nature gives us what we need.

Face
Your face will benefit greatly from a daily use of shea butter. It would be best if you combine the application of shea butter with a short massage. This also helps your skin to absorb the butter. Moreover it is recommended to apply the shea butter as early as possible (e.g. after the shower) in order to allow it to enter the skin completely and in order to avoid a strong shine on your skin at the moment you leave the house. Following, we list some effects of the butter on your face:
a) Flexibility: The high percentage of unsatifionables and the vitamin in the butter will make your skin flexible.
b) Balancing your moisture: For those parts of the skin that are exposed to the environment it is highly beneficial if the blood circulation is improved. Right after the application of the butter you will feel the wellness-effect on your skin.
c) Protection: The butter will enter deeply into your skin which will leave a shiny glance on your skin right after it was applied. If the shiny glance is too strong for you, just give the butter some 30 min to be absorbed by the skin. Right before you leave the house re-massage your skin. If it still remains too shiny remove the excess sheabutter with a tissue. You can feel the protective effect and it lasts a long time. Shea butter also helps with irritated noses when you have a cold. Apply the butter softly on your irritated skin parts.

Complete body application
Take a wellness bath: Apply one soup spoon of shea butter to the hot bathing water.  The bath will make your body smooth and will balance your skin moisture. Enjoy.
The relaxation application: Apply the shea butter with great care to the muscles, e.g. for a faster regeneration after a training session. Feel the immediate muscular well-being.
After Shave Wellness: Apply shea butter immediately after the daily shave. It keeps all irritations away from your skin. Feel the difference - enjoy.

Hair
Through the strong protective force of the butter your hair will be silky and your hair will be revitalized.
The recommendation...a revitalizing application: On the day before washing your hair apply shea butter onto your hair tips. Cover your hair with a hot towel and your keratin will absorb all substances from the butter that it needs.  If you have dry hair, try the following: 10 minutes after having washed your hair, melt some butter. Rub the butter into your hair. It will bring shine and new life into your hair.

Men – we like it pure
Shea butter used as an After-Shave Crème leads to a healthier and younger skin....not only optically. Sportsmen and –women apply shea butter onto all the strained body parts. The shea butter should be massaged in bigger quantities but with great softness for example onto thighs, feet, knees and elbow. Option for optimized wellbeing: For an especially soft massage try to motivate your partner to take over the task.  Why not?

Summer, sun or let`s get down south
Use shea butter as revitalizing after sun lotion. For all those whose skin is already used to the sun: Shea butter has a natural UV protection factor of 3-4. May be you can avoid sun screen completely.

Report on shea butter and sun protection from the Upper West Region in Ghana: After applying shea butter and cycling in the midday sun no signs of sun burn were visible. My personal conclusion: Shea butter might offer a higher protection level than 3-4. Shea butter – an alternative to highly chemical sunscreen lotions.

Our hair gets dry in summer: Please refer to the above mentioned hair treatment and you can even apply the butter before you go swimming. Shea butter offers protection on land and in water. Not only light skin suffers from strong UV-exposure. Regular shea butter usage before and after sun bathing helps our skin keeping a healthy look for long time

Day crème for your baby
In Africa shea butter has been used for centuries and not only by women. Also is has been applied on soft baby skin to protect it against the strong, dry desert winds. What has been tested and adopted under extreme conditions is wonderfully applicable for us and those that are very close to us. 

Sport and shea butter
Shea butter is particularly recommendable for sports. A prerequisite for a good performance is a quick and complete regeneration. Shea butter is being used by Africans for generations in order to ease muscle tension and stress.
Before any sport activity: Shea butter helps the muscles to warm up. After any sport activity:  Shea butter reduces the agglomerated acids and therefore helps your body to regenerate faster.

Winter Special
Apply the sheabutter right after your morning shower, so that your skin is prepared and protected for the day.   All body parts that are not covered are affected by cold weather. Shea butter protects your skin for hours. Please do not forget: Fighting aging skin starts with its protection.

Recipe

If you want to bring a good quality oil into the butter you can use the following procedures:

Leave the butter in the container and put it in a pot of boiling water. After a few minutes the butter is liquid and you can add the oil (20% oil, 80% shea butter). You can now add some drops of ethereal oil (e.g. orange smell) if you want. Feed Back from our clients: The oil should have the same temperature like the shea butter.
