The shea nut growing area is in the Upper West Region Ghanas (see also map below) and is embedded between the Mole Elephant Reserve and the
Black Volta
River that marks the border to . It is an isolated area with few roads and cars, with clear air and a low population density. Acriculture is usually subsistence farming. In this region extremely low use of pestizide and other chemicals can be observed as local farmers have not enough funds to afford these substances. Plantations are still very rare. All these circumstances contribute to the extemely low likelihood that shea trees and shea nut come into contact with any doubtful substances. Shea Trees are abundant in the Upper West region and are all wild growing plants.
The production sites are within the tribal area of the “Wala”. They are into Shea Butter processing for ages. The elephants of the Mole Elephant Reserve and the Wala-tribe inspired us for the logo of this product line.
